Platja de la Barceloneta!

The Second day we were in Barcelona we enjoyed a relaxing walk up and down the beach and boardwalk! Here are pictures of the sights, sandy beach, and the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea!

The Barceloneta beach is in Barcelona in the district of Barceloneta, located in the district of Ciutat Vella with the beach of San Sebastian is one of the longest with a length of 1,100 meters. Along with San Sebastian is one of the oldest and most traditional of the city and a favorite for foreigners.

Barcelona Head, a sculpture by famous pop artist Roy Lichtenstein can be admired at the end of Moll de la Fusta, that is, the north eastern part of the harbor area. Roy was appointed Amici di Barcelona in 1993 by Pasqual Maragall, city mayor during the Olympics. In fact this sculpture was inaugurated for the 1992 Barcelona games as part of the important transformation the wharves underwent during the early 90s. Its 64 feet of concrete and ceramics reminds you of some famous pop art work by the same author: Girl With Hair Ribbon, 1965.

Walking by Port Vell!

The museum of the History of Catalonia is located in the Palau de Mar in Barcelona, the former General Stores, the sole building of Barcelona's Old Port still standing.

There were so many cute little cafe's on our walk!

Port Vell (in English 'Old Harbour') is a waterfront harbour in Barcelona and part of the Port of Barcelona. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories.

The beautiful boats on a perfect day!

This is a beachside burger joint that looked very cute and judging by reviews I have read online it has very tasty burgers and fries! I loved the furniture!

Cute table set up at Maka Maka for large parties!

We see the beach!

Restaurants right on the Beach! This place has got to be packed in the summer! Reminded me of California!

Blue Ocean! Blue Sky!

The W in the distance! Such an amazing Hotel!

Kevin and I on the beach!

Lets go to the beach! beach!

Lots of people building sandcastles for money!

A little but of Vegas in Barcelona!

The focal point of all the Olympic sculptures around Barcelona is a collection of 8 pieces called Urban Configurations that was specifically designed to polish up the city’s long-neglected beaches and ports. One of these sculptures is The Wounded Star, a rusty stack of four lopsided cubes that pays homage to the days when shacks and lowbrow eateries used to line the beach until 1992: Rebecca Horn's sculpture L'Estel Ferit,

Surf shop! Rent surf boards, wind boards, all you need for surfing fun!

So many cute restaurants along the beach! Great place to be in the summer!

Gym on the beach and lounge chairs!

Barcelona's golden fish sculpture, known as Peix, is one of many pieces of public art found in and around the city. The piece sits in the Port Olimpic at the base of a large skyscraper, the Hotel Arts, one of the tallest buildings in the city. Renowned architect Frank O. Gehry was commissioned to build the piece for the 1992 Summer Olympics, which were held in Barcelona and brought the city to the attention of the world. It faces the sea and measures 35 by 54 meters (about 114 by 177 feet). It is made of stone, steel, and glass. Its copper-colored shiny metal plates sparkle in the sunshine and make the sculpture a real eye catcher. The sculpture can be seen from several of Barcelona's beaches.

CDLC- Carpe Diem Lounge Club, the club we went to!

Palm trees, rays of sunshine!

The Barcelona Casino!

Barnabier! Where we enjoyed lunch! Nice location and Atmosphere, great outdoor tented seating!

I got the Fisherman's Soup it was delicious and light!

Kevin got the Smoked Salmon Avocado Salad! He loved it, but was definitely not enough for him!

We had to stop for some Ice Cream at Farggi's!

An Ice Cream Shop that started in Barcelona and is now through the entire country!

:)

It was so yummy! I love Ice Cream!

Boats in a row!

After lunch and the ice cream we just sat on the beach on these concrete lounge chairs!

Brock and Missy!

Being so close to the Olympic Village, the beach neighborhood of Barceloneta was one of the spots that was adorned most heavily with sculptures. This brassy structure depicts different athletes in motion on all sides, as you can tell by this metal man doing some sort of acrobatic dive.

Kevin and Missy both got 5 euro massages on the beach! :)

This sandcastle even had a swimming pool!

The water was pretty cold and refreshing! Had to try it out!

Peace, Love, Sandy Feet! <3
