Colosseo!

Back from Rome!

The first stop of our trip was to visit the Colosseum! It was Stupefacente (Amazing)! What is standing today is just the skeleton of what it was. All the walls were covered with marble, pearls, and gems, but it was all stolen to build everything else in Rome! The section below the wood floor shows the chambers of where the gladiators and animals were guided to the main platform, which was made of wood (it no longer remains but they rebuilt a section of to show what it looked like) They covered the wood in sand to absorb the blood from the battles. There is also floor seating which was very exclusive. Along with gladiator vs. animal battles and animal vs. animal, they also filled the arena up with water and had men fight on boats. Crazy the things they did for entertainment back then. The colosseum is huge it blows my mind how they had the technology to build something so extraordinary thousands of years ago. There is nothing like it today!

PEACE & LOVE,
Kevin & Amanda
