Pontebba!
It's nice being in a small town, where you can walk everywhere! But most of the shops are closed half the week! and they close 3 hours for lunch! so its hard to catch them when they are open! Sometimes they don't reopen if they don't feel like it! :) Living the good life- Taking it easy! Drinking the Vino!
A Catholic Church I came across in Pontebba! I will have to take Kevin to a Sunday mass! Although the service will be in all Italian, it would be a cool experience!
The yard in front of the church! I can't believe everything is still so green and flowers are still blooming in the end of October! This day was a 60 degrees day! It was so beautiful!
Th Alter in the apse of the church!
Firewood cut getting ready for the snowy cold winter ahead! Most homes and apartments in Italy have a wood burner for their main source of heat throughout the winters. I love the Bavarian style of all the buildings in Pontebba! It is a definite Mountain town!
The naturale water that flows down from the Mountains is so clean and fresh you can drink it!
These fountains are placed all over town always flowing fresh "Aqua Naturale" (that is how you have to order flat water in a restaurant here- because they love the bubbly stuff!)
When it snows and rains in Pontebba it happens for weeks straight! The weather system doesn't move very fast over the mountains! and then it will be nice and sunny for weeks straight!
I Puffi (The Smurfs) I think I like the name "I Puffi" better! lol is blasted all over town! Kevin and I will have to go see it in Italian! :)
The narrow streets in Europe for their small cars! Everything is so much smaller here!
Our home! That is the building that Kevin and I are living in! Most people in Italy live in apartment buildings or duplexes. You rarely see individual owned homes! The building we live in is just for the Pontebba Hockey boys! So its nice and their is a common area in the basement with a huge wood burner where the boys like to have parties after their Saturday night games. Italians love to entertain! They serve us drinks and food anytime we visit! :) Friendly people!
The view from our bedroom balcony in our apartment! Si! We do have a balcony attached to our bedroom! :)
View from our kitchen balcony! The road systems in Europe are pretty good- The Autobound! Everyone drives as fast as their piccolo (small) car will go! You have to pay to use the Autobound though, because there are tons of tunnels that go right through the mountains! There is also always the option of taking the back countryside roads! :) Which are nice and scenic!
More views from our balcony! Most of the buildings have a different code system than what we are used to seeing. They use concrete to make their walls, instead of using 2x4, drywall, and installation! It seems like everything here is made of hard materials! The floor in our apartment is entirely tile! Not looking forward to the winter! It might be freezing!
Even more views from our balcony! The sun sets early in Pontebba because of the mountains and when this happens the temperature drops tremendously!
Nice modern home I found in town! A lot of the large double doors here it Italy are arched! I will do an entire series on cool doors I find, because they are all very interesting!
I love the run-down look! It must be the Detroit in me! It must be very common to have gates in front of your home!
It's beautiful being surrounded by mountains every direction you look! I've never lived anywhere in my life, where I had this experience! The sky was so blue this day! Bella!
Kevin and I went for a walk down by the stream! Everything you need right here! Mountains, Trees, and a River! In Italian- Montagna, Alberi, and Fiume!
The snow has melted on the tops of the mountains this week, since it has warmed up! I will take pictures when it comes back! And document the whole change in season!
Perfect waves!
It's been a beautiful fall here in Pontebba! I hope you enjoyed my first series of photos! Their will be many more to come!
PEACE & LOVE,
Kevin & Amanda
