Perfect Chili!

Foodie Fridays!

Fridays are going to be dedicated to the food we are eating in Sweden! I'm gonna be honest Sweden is not a country you come to for the food! They do know there pastries and candy though! Since there is not a lot of restaurants to eat at, Kevin and I figured we can just eat the food we want the way we want it if we make it ourselves! :) If we do go out to eat I will be sure to show you all what we are eating and what I think!


Perfect Chili
Perfect for those weekend tailgates you all are enjoying back home! 
My chili I prepared is full of a lot more vegetables than you average chili and it's just the right amount of spice! 


Serves 8-10
Time 2:45

Ingredients:

2 lb. ground sirloin
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1 can kidney beans
2 cups water
2 Tablespoons vegetable bouillon
1 can beer (12 oz)
2 celery stalks
2 bell peppers
1 jalapeno pepper
1 large onion
4 cloves garlic
1/8 cup chili powder
1 Tablespoons oregano
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup cornmeal
2 Tablespoon warm water
shredded cheddar cheese
Creme Fraiche

Directions:

1. In large sauce pan ground the sirloin until cooked. drain the fat.
2. Remove meat and than place in large pot at medium heat.
3. Add cans of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, water, vegetable bouillon, and beer.
4. Finely chop celery, peppers, onions, and garlics, then add to pot.
5. Add chili powder, oregano, cumin, Tabasco sauce, basil, paprika, salt, ground pepper, and sugar.
5. Bring to boil then reduce the heat to a simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
6. In a small bowl, mix together the cornmeal with warm water, be sure to mix well.
7. Stir into cooked chili, then cover for an additional 20 minutes.
8. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and a dollop of Creme Fraiche. (European sour cream)
9. Enjoy and smile :)


This is mine and Kevin's favorite kitchen tool! Garlic crusher! No more crushing and dicing! We had one last year in Italy too it amazing! You better believe we will be bringing one home with us this year!
